He's On The Move!

Lochlan started rolling over from front to back when he was just 3 weeks old! So I thought... Wow! This kid is going to be challenge! I was sure he would be crawling at like 5 or 6 months...

But that didn't happen... and he just sat

and sat!

Month after month.

I would put him in the middle of the floor with no toys in reach. Then he would scream and be so frustrated that usually one of the kids (or me) would "rescue" him and give him a toy. When I finally realized what was happening, I made more purposeful attempt at getting him to crawl. Even though I knew it meant some major frustration on L.T.'s part, I would put his toys just out of reach in order to strengthen his back. He would get really upset, but eventually he learned to reach and get on his knees...


Then he would reach so far that he would end up on his tummy, unable to get back to sitting. Once, he even fell asleep while playing on his tummy...


Then, a couple of weeks ago, when Locke was 10 and 1/2 months old... he moved his little knees instead of collapsing! Early on he still got pretty frustrated and started out really slow...


But now he is crawling everywhere exploring his little world (apart from a few defined no no's)

Here he is trying to decide if touching the cat food is worth it...

with ever increasing speed! Having another little explorer on our hands has our hands even fuller than before, but it's such a privilege to watch! Finally Lochlan is on the move!!
