This is quite a popular site for tourists, so you have to arrive early to even get a ticket. Then your ticket tells you when you can come back for a boat ride out to see the Arizona Memorial. There is a submarine and a boat you can pay to go on, but we chose to just do the free stuff this time.
Here are some pics of our time there:
Thought it was really neat that they have special parking spots up front for the those who survived.
This map was very interesting. It showed the paths the Japanese planes took in their bombing runs.
We live up by the little nubbin' peninsula thing on the far right of the screen. Right by the bay.
This whole wall showed the soldiers, sailors and civilians who died that day.
Mason is taking in the gravity of the situation.
Pearl Harbor was definitely an interesting place. The displays and movies were informative and interesting to all of us.. especially Lochlan who is starting to take a real interest in fighting, gun tactics, warfare stuff, bad guys, good guys, battles, etc. And we all enjoyed the boat ride and trip out to see the memorial. It was a great field trip. We'll probably come back and do the extras when my my and dad come visit. He's a real WW2 student.
