The first visitors of the year were Mimi and Baba! Since mom had already been here, and dad likes to take it easy, we didn't feel a lot of pressure to be on the go all the time. So it was a fun and relaxing trip. Plus this time the house was all set up, we had figured out where we would be involved, and we knew our routine and the island better, so it was a good place to be.
We did do a few tourist things though...
Ho'omoluhia Botanical Garden
The hike up Diamond Head (I did not realize that there were two ways... so my 6'6" dad had to duck through the tunnel and get on his hands and knees to crawl out of the bunker hole at the top avoiding tourists... only to discover that there was an easy pathway around the side... haha!
We went to watch the sunrise at the pillboxes.
And almost made Mimi choke to death when Kaiah slipped near the edge knocking colored pencils over into the abyss.
We kayaked out into Kaneohe Bay and saw all kinds of strange creatures like feather dusters and sea cucumbers that were 3 feet long.
We explored tide pools.
And we went up to North Shore and introduced Mimi to the garlic shrimp from Giovanni's.
Dad could only stay for a week. Mom stayed for a little more than 2. We had so much fun with them both!
