So we finally made the big trip! The kids have prayed that we would be safe in Yellowstone and the Tetons for several months 3 times daily when praying for our meals.
I will include some of the highlights (and a few lowlights) for each day.
Day 1 - Taking off with our good friends the Carlsons in our Explorer (it had a tow hitch for the trailer we borrowed from my parents) and with a little buffalo puppet strapped to the front of our Caravan, we traveled through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. We stopped at a campground east of Missoula and camped there for the night. Not much to report here except that we discovered that we needed to make all 6 kids (minus Locke) go potty every time we stopped so we didn't have to stop in each town or rest stop. It was pretty funny how many times we needed "to go." Also one of my highlights was that before they bedded down for the night in the back of the Explorer, we forgot to tell Tony and Ash about the malfunctioning lock in the back seat of the car and they set off the alarm in the middle of the night (another potty break) causing me to jump out of my tent yelling "hit unlock!!" They figured it out after like 60 seconds.... What can I say? We like to make an entrance.
The next day we set off for a few more hours of driving though Montana. Entering the north entrance of Yellowstone,
we drove to the Roosevelt Cabins near the La Mar valley (nick named the Serengheti (sp?) of the U.S. We settled into our cozy cabins and went on an evening drive. This is what we saw....

That is SO COOL! I have great memories of camping trips when I was a kid. And how fun to go with friends.
Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip.
