A few weird facts about our family:
1. We sing Christmas songs year-round for bedtime lullabies
2. All four kids sleep in one tiny room.
3. Two of them sleep in a bunk bed that is really a crib turned upside down with the front sawed off and a mattress on the floor...
Anyhoo. We just had a pretty funny (albeit quite regular) happening tonight while we sang O Holy Night. We've done this one since Mason and Kaiah were just tiny kids. It gets a little more complicated with 4, but here is how it went down tonight:
Oh Holy Nigh...
Lochlan: Snow Man! Snow Man!
Me: Lochlan, stop that!
...stars are brightly shiiiiiiining. It is the nigh....
Cliff: snicker
of our dear Savior's
Mason: What's so funny?
birth
Cliff: (mocking me) Stop it! Knock that off! Shut your mouth! (laughing)
Mason: Haha! Yeah Stop it Mama!
Long lay the world, in sin and error...
Me: Uncontrollable giggling
Cliff, Mason and Kaiah laughing
Long Pause... more giggling
till he appeared, and the soul felt its worth.
The thrill of hope. The weary world rejoices.
Lochlan: (murmuring and trying to get the actual words to the song)
While yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn!
All singing: Fall on your knees. Oh hear.... the angels voices. Oh niiiiight divine, Oh night when Christ was born!
(This must be some sort of record!)
Oh night, divine!
Cambria: (in falsetto) Oh night, when Christ was born!
Lochlan: babbling
Me: Good night!
And that was our lullaby interrupted :) I'm quite sure there will many more to come!
