Uncle Dave's Kayak Shack

I first learned about Dave from some friends in Oregon who had a connection with him and told me I needed to meet him. I met him anyway at a church we went to for awhile. He was so gracious to let us come hang out with him on the deck of his house right on the ocean! It's just a wonderful spot (as you can see)! The reef is way out, so waves are gentle, the breeze is constant, and the company is always fun. Dave always has snacks, drinks (Mountain Dew because he survives on those and doughnut holes), kayaks, and shoes ready for us whenever we come, even though we bring all of our own stuff.

Whenever we go, we don't have an agenda. Just play in the water, eat, snorkle, kayak surf out on the waves, climb Dave's awesome tree, lounge around in the hammock, and catch geckos with a noose. (That was a nugget of wisdom our friend Trev taught us :).

But almost every time we go to Dave's we take his kayaks down the beach, about a mile away to Chinaman's Hat. It is a wonderful trip. We almost always see turtles along the way as we enjoy the gorgeous mountains to the right and the turquoise ocean to the left.

Here's the view from the top of the Hat! So gorgeous. We have seen manta rays, turtles, breaching humpback whales and birds from up there. Dave has even seen a couple of hammerheads!

Here's our little guy just chillin'. This place is seriously beautiful I never get tired of coming here.

Kim and I!

And there are some fun spots to explore at the base of the island as well. This spot has a cave!

Thanks Dave! We always love coming to hang out with you at your little slice of paradise. We're coming back in a couple of weeks with some more friends... showing off your lovely place. And this time we're bringing a Costco sized pack of Mountain Dew!
