Katelyn and Mimi Visit!

We had this surprise planned for awhile. It was tough to keep it a secret from the kids for so long. Any visitor is special and it is refreshing to have them... especially when you live on an island! I made the mistake of telling the kids that we were expecting someone, and just leaving it up to their imagination, because I discovered later, Mason was pretty convinced it could be his friends the Kiles or the Wachsmuths. So when it wasn't one of his buddies, he cried a little behind the tourist brochure display while they got their luggage. He pulled himself together though and rejoiced that they were here.
This is when Mimi appeared (Katelyn hid for a bit down the hall).

Then when they saw Katelyn :)

The girls did very girly things like make leis

and display them around their necks.

We tried a jump... it didn't work.

We played at the beach a lot. She loved Lanikai!

We watched the sunrise.

And Cliff kayaked her out to flat island...

while I made fun of Mom who fell out of our broken chair... I'm a horrible daughter.

Obligatory shave ice... our kids are actually starting to tire of it!

We snorkled and played board and card games and did some homeschool... but when asked initially what her favorite thing that she did in Hawaii was, she said, "Make Shrinky Dinks!" Haha. She later changed her answer to Lanikai, but that first answer really made us laugh!

It was so exciting to have Mom and Katelyn here for the 10 days. Thanks to her friend Dena who gave her stand by tickets! We had a great time. And thanks to Ken and Cheryl for sharing their very helpful daughter with us! It was good girl cousin bonding time :)
