We had actually planned for Isaiah to come long before Mimi and Katelyn received their free tickets, so when they came it was extremely difficult to keep this secret! We brought him over because Mason has really missed his buddies in Oregon and Isaiah and his family will be traveling this summer for a month pretty much the whole time we are visiting :(.
Cliff went to pick him up from the airport while I went on a "date" with Mason. When we went into the restaurant this is what I saw:
We went to sit down right next to them and Mason still didn't notice! So I took a picture of them over my shoulder. He took a closer look at the people his nutsy mom was taking a picture of...
and...
the moment of realization!
He said, "What are YOU doing here?!"
Well, that was the start of a really fun week and a half!
He was also a very uncomplicated guest. He just went with the flow, was up for most things we threw at him, and did it with a really laid back, easy going attitude. It is very interesting how different people respond after seeing this place for the first time. Most adults are like, "Woah! Look at those mountains!" or "Gorgeous flowers, plants and trees!" Isaiah was just looking at Mason and the other kids laughing and playing "Would You Rather?" while we drove :).
Here are a few shots of the fun things we did!
There was plenty of down time too. We did a little school, but mostly we just played and chilled. Isaiah was very sweet to Lochlan and I found him reading to him a couple of times.
All the kids made a Star Wars video with cool special effects. That took several days. It turned out great!
And we played board games of course.
Cliff made sure Isaiah fulfilled "his civic duty" and took the boys to the Arizona Memorial and on the sub tour at Pearl Harbor.
Thanks for coming Isaiah! Mason has a great time with you... we all did!
