Mimi and Baba's "Farm"

We love to visit Baba and Mimi's "farm"! They only really have 2 acres, but they are surrounded by pastureland and lots of trees. And they have a huge garden and (because of our experiments) a large area for the ducks and chickens. There is always something going on there. I wish we lived closer... but when we visit some of the highlights are:

The ducks!! (by now all ducks have been maimed or mysteriously disappeared...)

The chickens! The kids love getting the eggs and bringing them to Mimi.

 The wildlife.

Woodpeckers!

Hummingbirds! Baba makes an endless supply of sugar water for these little guys. Anytime of the day you can hear them chirping in the trees or see them whizzing by going to get another sip.

Sidewalk chalk! Whenever the kids are there, the walkway is well decorated, if not completely covered in chalk :)

The woodpile. It's ever-growing as my dad frequently is chopping wood for their wood stove and for other people to use (we have used a lot for camping. Thanks Dad!)

The trees. Whenever the kids are there, they kick the roosting chickens out of the lower branches on their way up!)

Ida and Rose (the cats). Baba really enjoys them!

Helping Mimi in the garden, digging up potatoes and picking various fruits and veggies.

There are many more memories that I didn't picture here, but some more would be:
watching the cows with their new calves in the pasture next door,
feeding the horses on the other side of the road,
hearing the rain pound on the metal roof,
watching the box elders smoke up as they land in the floor lamp,
hanging from the huge metal cords that help hold the walls together,
seeing and holding beautiful rocks of every kind everywhere in and out of the house,
doing Easter egg hunts on the huge lawn,
all the cousins playing toys under the stairs and in the loft while the adults play card and board games, and seeing Mimi run to wave at us all as we round the circular driveway :)

We have so many fun memories of "The Farm!"
