Mason's 10th

This year Mason planned his own party. He had very specific activities he wanted to do with his friends. I'm finding that at this age, it is a lot easier to ask just a couple of kids over for an overnighter. Our home can't handle much more of boys this age (when the excitement factor is in play) even for a few hours... so this is a great alternative, and Mason agreed.

He planned the trading of the Pokemon cards,

a dance party,

a pillow fight,

rounds of a staring contest,

and we added in pumpkin carving because we found such a great deal on them!

His cake, as he had planned, was brownie ice cream sandwich.

And in the morning they dissected owl pellets and identified the species found within.

They had a great time, and I've never planned an easier party :) (because I didn't plan it!)

Mason is turning out to be a very thoughtful, inquisitive, pensive young man who is beginning to ask the really hard questions about faith and God and wanting to do the right thing in every situation. We've been having a lot of conversations about grace and salvation and eternal security in Christ. It's been such a gift to have Mason. He is such a fun kid... growing far too quickly.

Happy 10th Mason. We LOVE  you!
