Guide Dog School for the Blind

A fun field trip for us was the Guide Dog School for the Blind. Kaiah is currently dog crazy... so seemed like a natural choice for our family. And a few other friends joined us. I've discovered in field trip planning, if you set it up, they will come! This way we can do the things we want to do and when we want to them instead of waiting to see what the local homeschool groups come up with.

This woman brought a dog for the kids to play with. She was blind and was able to give some great info about these awesome animals.

Kaiah loved her... and she loved Kaiah back.

This was the map of the facility that the people could feel and study to understand the layout.

Learning about Braille.

Bins of dog food... I think Lochlan wanted some!

The education/research/library room. They can make the words as big as they want if they have some vision left.

The board of which dog goes with who, and when and when they need to be fed and checked up on. Actually, this is looking like a pretty good organization system for my kids... Hmm.

Kaiah's loving on the puppy again one last time before we leave.

And since we were so close to my parent's house, we got to have some apple cider from their cider press! Here is the only shot of Locke and Charlie that I could get with them both looking :)

Lochlan "helping"

Pressing and cranking.

Everyone drinking.

Thanks Dad!

I'm trying to do more inexpensive and educational field trips with fun moms and kids like these! Love them!
