Last November Cliff let me go to the coast with my scrap'n friends: Leah, Jamie, and Carlene. We stayed at a rental house (Leah's mom's friend) and just scrapped the weekend away. Actually I sewed and scrap'd the weekend away. After unloading all of our stuff (it was actually pretty impressive what 4 girls can bring when there are scrapbook supplies involved... I wish I had taken pictures), we set out all of our stuff and got to work. I spent about half of the time working on my latest sewing project:
A wall hanging advent calendar with pockets big enough for all 4 kids to have treats.
Then I worked on the scrapbook stuff and busted out another 3 months or so. I'm only 2 years behind now! Ugh. I think I might have to do some of those photo books soon and just try to keep up the blog. We'll see. The kids love looking through the scrapbooks.
We watched a couple of movies, went out to eat a couple of times, got coffees from Starbucks every day (nice timing of the BOGO free coffees during out weekend!), slept in, and enjoyed a leisurely weekend, scrapping whenever we wanted. It was so relaxing.
Unfortunately, I came back home to find Cliff (caring for our 4 kids) in 8/10 pain from his broken ribs (from surfing down a snowy hill on a sled and landing chest first into a rock). He went right in to urgent care... and that's a whole other story!
So I was really surprised when he said I could go on ANOTHER girl's weekend a few months later. My friend Ashley invited us to join her in using her timeshare at Seaside. I enjoy all of these friends and their kids and our husbands like each other too! But it was really nice to not have to bring everyone and just have some girl time to shop, talk, play games, watch movies, and have fun without all of the little "interruptions" that usually monopolize our time and energy.
Not that we didn't miss those interruptions all weekend and think about them constantly and talk about them often... and buy things for them... and check on them every few hours :)
Highlights:
Getting lost in the hotel.... every time!
Trying to take a picture with the timer at a cafe in Cannon Beach
Enjoying Fajitas and Mojitos back at the room

Buying matching shirts at the Nike outlet and spraying food all over them 30 minutes later
Looking around the shops of Cannon Beach

Finding a store that sells color changing toys and fingernail polish for the kids... Oh who am I kidding? We all thought they were super fun!

Love the photos...it was such a special time for me to get away with you all...so needed. Love you Becks. You often prompt me to do things that are good for me, but that I wouldn't otherwise. Thank you!
I'm so glad you girls had a fun time! What a blessing it is to get away from mommy responsibilities for a little while. :) (Mmmm... mojitos!)
