Valentines Day Limbo and Sea Monsters

I love traditions. I have great intentions of having certain ones every year... but the reality is, we have very few. I totally admire my friends who are together enough to build fun traditions that kids look forward to year after year. My mom had a few that I still remember and fondly look back on.

We do have a few, but some of the extras just don't seem to be coming together... For Valentines Day it would have been fun to make all of our dinner food pink (like Ashley did), or pass out treats to all of our friends (like my friend Jenn), or pass out food to people downtown with Bible verses about love on them (like my friend Amber)... For some reason I just can't pull it together :) Maybe I procrastinate too much. Maybe I don't plan ahead well. Maybe I'm lazy. Maybe it's all of these :)

I would love to be a super fun mom to my kids and have them excited looking forward to consistent traditions for all sorts of fun holidays and seasons.

Instead... my kids got these activities for Valentines Day:

1. Doing the Limbo in our living room for Kaiah's gymnastics homework... some of us in PJs and some of us in no pants.

2. Heart Waffles with strawberries and whipped cream (I guess that's a pretty good Valentines tradition) for breakfast.

3. Watching a National Geographic show on Sea Monsters while eating ice cream. Really, nothing says "I love you" like sea monsters...

I guess the point is to spend time with and appreciate the people you love... hopefully they'll remember some of the fun stuff we did!
