You start by opening one a day 11 days before Easter.
The little booklet that comes with it gives you a devotional to read with some scripture for every egg. Cambria already has hers picked out!
If you don't want to buy them, you could make your own pretty easily!
All you would need is:
- A Bible :)
- A small donkey
- Some coins
- Some praying hands (make them out of clay maybe?)
- A small cup (in our house this would probably come from our Polly Pocket stash)
- Some strips of leather
- A crown
- Some small nails
- A die
- A small spear (this would come from our Indiana Jones legos)
- A small piece of cloth
- A rock
- And the last one is empty.
Then you can pick parts of the story of Christ's suffering, death and resurrection from the gospels (or even some OT prophesies) to read to the kids.
I've read that some people think Resurrection eggs are irreverent and take away from the true meaning of Easter, but I think if the kids think it makes being in the Word talking about Him and learning about what He did for us fun and memorable, then it's a great tool to have.
