Visiting Dada On His Birthday

Dada doesn't enjoy having us fuss over his birthday but we thought it would be fun to bring him a cake since he had to work on his birthday. The girls decorated the cake right before we headed up.

It's so fun walking down the halls of the hospital looking for Dada! Usually before we find him someone recognizes us from the pictures he has up in the break room. It feels a bit like the movie What About Bob? His co-workers come out from med rooms, get up from behind desks and poke out from doors down the hall to check us out... as if to say, "Is this your fam?!!"

They are all so sweet and rave about the kids and (Buster said later) me. But I know they are just happy to see that we have brought them more treats!! We never come empty-handed because we usually just go up for his birthdays, father's day or some sort of holiday :) He works with a lot of really fun and sweet people. I should have taken their picture too... but it was a little awkward bringing my camera up at all.

We usually take a stroll around the unit saying hi to co-workers that haven't met us or seen us in a while. Then we look out at the gorgeous view! The clouds were really fun this day because there were storms all around dumping various amounts of water. Here dada is getting a call from a patient.

It worked out perfectly for us to come when we did because he was able to take a little break and eat some cake with us and several of his co-workers. The kids sang him Happy Birthday (Lochlan sang him "Happy Day Day").

I think he secretly likes it when we celebrate his birthday :)

What a fun idea. We'll have to do this for Ken when next year rolls around...

Ohhh...he's loving it. I can totally tell from the pictures!!

I think it's more about showing you guys off, though, than the whole birthday thing. But, hey, the birthday offers that opportunity...so way to go, Mama!!!
